About Me

TV News Career Coaching from a 20-Year Veteran Journalist

I've been where you are.

I started in small markets, figured it out the hard way, and spent the next 20 years reporting, anchoring, and telling stories in newsrooms across the country. The work includes anchoring for the past 10 years.

Along the way I reviewed hundreds of reels, mentored reporters just starting out, and watched what separates the journalists who make it from the ones who don't.

It's rarely talent.

It's knowing what news directors actually look for, knowing how to tell a story that makes someone stop scrolling, and knowing how to carry yourself on camera like you belong there.

I've anchored breaking news, led coverage of major stories across the country, and done it all in one of the most competitive and fast-changing industries there is.

Now, it’s time to give back to the industry that gave me so much. I want to help you get there faster than I did.

Whether you're trying to land your first job, move up to a bigger market, or finally fix what's holding your reel back — I've seen it all and I know exactly what needs to change.

You don't need more experience. You need the right guidance from someone who's actually done it.

Let's get to work.

My coaching is designed for journalists who want to move their careers forward, including:

• Journalism students preparing to land their first newsroom job
• Small-market reporters trying to move up to the next market
• MMJs looking to strengthen their resume reel
• Anchors preparing for a news director interview

If you’re serious about building a career in television news, the right guidance can make all the difference.

Who Is This For?

Coaching has always been one of my favorite parts of working in a newsroom. Now I use that experience to help journalists:

• Improve storytelling and write stronger, more impactful scripts
• Build confidence and presence on-air
• Use social media to grow visibility and stand out
• Strengthen their resume reel to get noticed by news directors

How Can I Help?

Your Questions, Answered

How quickly can I expect to see measurable results?

Most people start seeing improvement right away. That’s especially true once they understand what’s actually holding them back. For things like reel feedback or on-camera coaching, you can usually apply changes immediately. The bigger results depend on consistency over time. The people who improve fastest are the ones who stay engaged, apply the feedback, and keep building week by week.

Is this worth it if I’m early in my career

This is actually when coaching helps the most. The earlier you understand what works and what doesn’t, the faster you improve and avoid building bad habits. Whether you’re a student, just starting out, or already working in a small market, the goal is the same: get clear, get better, and move up faster.

What’s the difference between one-time sessions and ongoing coaching?

One-time sessions are focused on a specific need (like reviewing your reel, improving your on-camera delivery, or mapping out your next career move.) Ongoing coaching is for people who want consistent feedback and guidance as they improve over time. Most people start with a one-time session, then move into ongoing coaching once they realize how much faster they improve with regular feedback.
